Contemporary artist Tino Sehgal will present a 20-hour immersive participatory program at Taraka Jeju in Seogwipo from October 30 to November 29. The month-long event features forest walks and encounters with "Interpreters" to facilitate inner exploration within the island's nature.

Contemporary art master Tino Sehgal will present a 20-hour immersive participatory art program in Jeju. This event, being attempted as a world-first, will take place for one month from October 30 to November 29 at the wellness stay "Taraka Jeju" in Saekdal-dong, Seogwipo.

Sehgal is an artist who has worked at world-class museums including the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Tate Modern in London, and Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul. He held his first solo exhibition in Korea at the Leeum Museum of Art from March 3 to June 28 this year, and his fascination with the landscape while traveling Jeju at that time served as the motivation for this project.

“I decided to step out of the indoor museum setting and try the world's first program against the backdrop of this beautiful island,” he explained.

Instead of a fixed exhibition space, this program is organized as a 20-hour "inner exploration" where participants stay and immerse themselves directly in the nature of Jeju. Participants will walk through the forests and gardens of Jeju to rest, and are expected to encounter "Interpreters" of the work who approach without notice, experiencing a moment where they themselves become part of the artwork.

Additionally, various events will be held, including humanities lectures by classical philologist Professor Bae Chul-hyun and "Jeju Nature Resonance" dining planned by life artist Lee Hyo-jae.
