The "Ceramic Mad Tea Party" exhibition, featuring works by ten ceramic artists, will be held at Gallery H in the Han Hyang-lim Ceramic Museum from the 4th to the 15th.
The "Ceramic Mad Tea Party" exhibition will run from the 4th to the 15th at Gallery H in Heyri, Paju, featuring a central dining table where ten artists present various cups, plates, and sculptural objects.
An exhibition reinterpreting everyday ceramic tableware through an artistic lens will be held in Heyri, Paju. The special exhibition, titled "Ceramic Mad Tea Party," will take place from the 4th to the 15th at Gallery H on the lobby floor of the Han Hyang-lim Ceramic Museum, showcasing cups, teapots, plates, and sculptural objects created with unique personalities by ten ceramic artists on a single dining table.
Organized by Adorsans and the Small Hand Project and curated by curators Choi Hyo-jeong and Ahn Hyeong, this exhibition is part of the "2026 Traveling Gyeonggi Ceramics Biennale" supported by the Korea Ceramic Foundation. It is also conducted in connection with the Art Tour, a program of the "2026 Heyri Culture Day" base (B:ase).
The exhibition draws inspiration from the "Mad Tea Party" held by the Mad Hatter in *Alice in Wonderland*. It focuses on transforming the dining table encountered every day into a space where imagination intervenes, noting that craft items intended for daily use can also be appreciated as sculptural works.
A long table will be placed in the center of the exhibition hall. Antique cups and pitchers, sculptural objects shaped like rabbits and the moon, hamster-shaped plates, clover cups, and melting-style plates created by ten artists—Kim Yun-jeong, Park Eun-seo, Song Jae-hu, Ahn Hyeong, Yoo Eun-hye, Lee Ga-young, Lee Seung-beom, Lee Hae-in, Jo Eun-hye, and Choi Min-hui—will be arranged together. Works will also be displayed on the walls so that various pieces can be viewed around the central table. Visitors can appreciate the works by strolling around the table without a fixed route.
The artists captured relationships, nature, and the sensations of daily life in ceramics using different materials and forms. Ahn Hyeong expresses boundaries and isolation within relationships, as well as the emotions left behind after a relationship, through cake-shaped forms. By using surfaces built up with a piping bag to revive hardened clay, the artist visualizes the remnants of emotion.
Yoo Eun-hye creates cups and sculptures that lean on and penetrate one another, showing how individual elements form relationships to support a single shape. Jo Eun-hye adds friendly images to everyday objects by translating animals from nature into tableware, such as squirrel teapots, rabbit dessert bowls, and Asian black bear liquor cups.
An introduction area where the portfolios of the ten participating artists can be viewed will be provided at the entrance of the exhibition hall. The exhibition is held at Gallery H, Han Hyang-lim Ceramic Museum in Heyri, Paju, and viewing hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The museum is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and public holidays.
