FUJIFILM Korea is holding an exhibition of selected works from the 《PHOTO GO / PAPER MATTER Photobook Award 2026》 at the multi-cultural space House of Photography, running until November 22. The exhibition features all 25 final selections from the inaugural award's Dummy Book category and Published Photobook category, highlighting contemporary Taiwanese photobooks.
The themes covered by the works range widely from micro-narratives, such as intimate personal relationships and family memories, to local beliefs, the politics of the body, queer experiences, historical landscapes, and contemporary social issues. Rather than merely arranging images, each photobook was produced with careful consideration of binding structures, the materiality of materials, meticulous editing, and the rhythm of turning pages, demonstrating that the photobook can possess its own unique narrative as an independent medium.
The participating artists are also notable. Featured are Wang Jianxun, who opened the photography bookstore Xin Taixing—named after his grandfather's clothing factory—to promote Taiwanese photographic publications and explore identity centered on "hometown"; Lin Jiahang, who reconstructs the identity of queer men and the dynamics of intimate relationships; and Wu Meiqi, who bridges art and fashion by transforming everyday objects into multi-layered image spaces through staged photography and collage.
FUJIFILM Korea has been facilitating photographic exchanges both domestically and internationally through House of Photography. For its own "Dummy Book Award" held for the first time this year, 245 books were submitted, and the 20 selected works were exhibited at House of Photography and Photo Festa 2026. The Grand Prize (20 million won) and Excellence Prize (15 million won) winners are scheduled to be published this year with publication support funds. The company is also expanding its international networks with entities such as the Xin Taixing bookstore in Taiwan and the Singapore International Photography Festival.
Meanwhile, during the opening talk held on the 24th regarding the "Creative Ecosystem of Contemporary Taiwanese Photobooks," PAPER MATTER founder Cai Yinqin and selected artists including Ou Jiacheng and Wang Jianxun participated to discuss with the audience the process of personal experiences expanding into public narratives and the culture of photographic publishing in Taiwan.
