No Gallery will host "Shin Jae-hwan: The Lyricism of Life — Sculpture Exhibition" from the 12th to the 26th. This exhibition introduces the formative world of Shin Jae-hwan, a deaf sculptor who has explored stone sculpture for over 20 years, by showcasing works constructed through the combination of stone and glass.

Shin Jae-hwan built his foundation in stone sculpture after studying under Jeon Roe-jin, a master of Korean contemporary stone sculpture, for six years. Since 2017, he has concurrently researched glass modeling, leading to full-scale attempts to combine these two disparate materials. He has developed his own formative language through 13 solo exhibitions and participation in approximately 120 domestic and international art fairs.

His work is completed through a process of bonding multiple layers of stone and glass, then cutting, carving, and polishing them. The opaque stone and transparent glass form a single structure while retaining their individual properties, causing the expression and depth of the works to change depending on the light and the angle of the viewer's gaze.

The artist extends this contrast of materials into an exploration of the duality of the human inner self and changing identities. The "life" mentioned in the exhibition title does not refer to the properties of the materials themselves, but to the sense and meaning that arise from the relationships and transformations formed as stone and glass pass through the artist's hands.

An official involved in the exhibition stated, "This exhibition focuses on the process where new forms and sensations are born from the combination of different substances." The official added, "Through his formative process, the exhibition will explore the relationships between nature and the artificial, matter and spirit, and opposing qualities, expanding the expressive possibilities of sculpture."
