This exhibition was organized to commemorate the opening of the Korean Cultural Center in Malaysia, which opened on October 30. The exhibition features works that modernly express the unique curves, colors, and traditional patterns of Hanbok.

Participating artists realized inspiration drawn from the forms and materials of Hanbok through painting, installation, video, media art, and artificial intelligence (AI) art. The exhibition is structured to allow viewers to explore the aesthetic elements and cultural meanings contained in Hanbok through various artistic genres, moving beyond its function as clothing.

On October 31, participating artists Kim Chang-gyeom and Gio Choi held an artist talk for local visitors. Curated by Han Sang-ik, a curator from the Savina Museum of Contemporary Art, the artists introduced their production processes and expressive intentions.

Lee Myung-ok, director of the Savina Museum of Contemporary Art, stated, "It is highly symbolic in that a private Korean museum has independently established a virtuous cycle of international art exchange based on traditional culture." She added, "By translating the traditional asset of Hanbok into contemporary art, we will persuasively present the present value of national cultural heritage on the world stage."

"Hanbok, Reborn as Art" is the sixth in a series of international exchange exhibitions continuously held overseas by the Savina Museum of Contemporary Art. It has previously been held in four countries—Kazakhstan, Nigeria, China, and the Philippines—and has now expanded to a total of five countries including Malaysia.

The Savina Museum of Contemporary Art stated that it plans to expand international cultural exchange by introducing the breadth and depth of K-culture through exhibitions that connect Korea's traditional cultural assets with contemporary art.
