Familiar homes in unfamiliar colors... Superior Gallery to hold Son Eun-yeong solo exhibition

When remembering a home, what comes to mind might be the trees outside the window or the alleys walked every day, rather than an address. Artist Son Eun-yeong captures even those surrounding landscapes on screen, prompting a reflection on the time accumulated in a single space. Superior Gallery will present Son Eun-yeong's solo exhibition, 《Here, Where Life Lingers》, this October. The exhibition features works using spaces encountered in daily life, such as houses, alleys, and gardens, as subject matter.

The 'House' series is based on photographs taken of actual locations. The artist utilizes infrared photography techniques that record light invisible to the human eye and adjusts colors and textures to transform familiar landscapes into forms different from reality. The houses in the works do not stand alone. Walls, trees, and the sky fill the screen together, evoking the relationship between the time spent in the house and the surrounding environment.

The 'Garden' series, presented alongside it, captures the light and colors of nature that change according to the seasons. Starting from the experience of encountering Monet's Water Lilies paintings in her childhood, the artist has maintained an interest in the gardens surrounding houses. Through these two series, the exhibition asks how the places we pass by every day remain within each person's memory.

Artist Son Eun-yeong studied Western Painting at Ewha Womans University and studied Photography Design at Hongik University Graduate School of Industrial Arts. She has dealt with houses and places by combining photography and painting, and was selected for the 2021 FNK Photography Award Fine Art category and the 2022 BELT Printmaking and Photography Competition.

The exhibition runs from the 30th of this month until October 22. Superior Gallery is closed on weekends and public holidays and operates from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
