Flowers and Strawberries Changed Beyond Glass… Aria Gallery to Hold Kim Ho-seong Solo Exhibition until the 21st

Aria Gallery in Daejeon is hosting a solo exhibition by artist Kim Ho-seong, featuring hyper-realistic paintings that use the refraction of glass to question how we perceive objects and reality.

When we meet people, we guess their character based on first impressions, and even when choosing objects, our hearts are first moved by their visible appearance. However, the appearance confirmed by the eyes does not always explain the true nature of the subject. An exhibition is being held that makes us think about these issues of perception by expressing familiar objects in unfamiliar ways.

Aria Gallery in Daejeon is holding a solo exhibition by artist Kim Ho-seong until the 21st. Based on hyper-realistic paintings as precise as photographs, the artist newly expresses strawberries, flowers, and more, questioning the way we look at and evaluate subjects.

A noteworthy part of the works is the role of glass. Objects viewed through glass appear in forms different from their original appearance depending on the refraction of light. The artist captures these visual changes in paintings, showing that the same subject can be perceived entirely differently depending on the conditions under which it is viewed.

The representative subject, strawberries, allows us to examine both the vivid red surface and the flesh inside. This signifies that there is another side that cannot be known through outward appearance alone. Flowers also change shape as they pass through the glass, prompting a reconsideration of aesthetic standards that were previously taken for granted.

These expressions also contain the artist's perspective on a society where appearance and image play an important role. Artist Kim Ho-seong emphasizes that rather than the visible appearance, internal elements such as character, will, and passion are important in determining the value of an existence.

Having participated in 30 solo exhibitions and numerous domestic and international exhibitions, Kim Ho-seong has been consistently active, with works even being included in middle school art textbooks. This exhibition is meaningful not only for the artistic techniques contained in the precise depictions but also in that it makes visitors reflect on their own judgments and perspectives.

The exhibition can be viewed every day from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM without closing days.
