Gallery T holds YAYO solo exhibition ‘Still Painting’

Gallery T is holding a solo exhibition by artist YAYO titled ‘Still Painting’ at the Gallery T New Building in the Lotte Department Store Dongtan Branch until October 22.

Opened on the 23rd, this exhibition focuses on the artist's process and attitude of continuing work by layering and erasing colors on the canvas, rather than the completed result.

YAYO works by repeatedly layering paint. The compositions are formed by leaving lines, stains, and marks created during the process of applying color, drying it, and then brushing again as part of the artwork.

The exhibition title ‘Still Painting’ also stems from this way of working. Gallery T explained that rather than viewing a painting as a single completed result, the artist approaches it as a process of change through trial and error and repetitive work.

YAYO has held solo exhibitions in Seoul and New York and has participated in group exhibitions held in France, South Korea, United Kingdom, and Japan. In 2026, she won the Grand Prize at the ‘Korean Women Artists Painting Competition & K-Woman in Paris’.

This exhibition is organized so that viewers can examine the works with a focus on the process of YAYO layering colors on the canvas multiple times and the traces created during that process.

Choi Ji-won, a curator at Gallery T, said, “This exhibition pays attention to the process of continuously drawing and restarting rather than the completed result,” and added, “Through the colors and marks YAYO has left on the canvas, we hope visitors will reflect on the time of life they create in their own ways.”

The exhibition runs until October 22 and can be viewed for free without a separate reservation.
