The Children's Market - Sprout Market, held on the 24th at the Onyang Folk Museum outdoor garden in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, has concluded successfully.
Organized as a linked program for the Public Design Festival 2026, which is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and managed by KCDF, the event was designed to allow children to naturally learn the meaning of resource circulation through experiences of sharing with neighbors and reflecting on the use and value of objects.
Approximately 20 teams of child sellers and about 25 lifestyle brand teams participated in the event, showcasing various crafts, daily necessities, and food items.
The venue featured children's workshops that allowed visitors to fully experience autumn, along with performances and outdoor programs for visiting families. In "Autumn Gathering Pick n Roll!", children walked through the garden to create tactile toys and brooches using natural materials they collected.
Craft experiences held in collaboration with the Asan Craft Creation Support Center included making coasters using traditional weaving methods, as well as creating traditional pattern postcards, kites, and Hanji mobiles. "Play Zone: Playground" was operated for enjoying board games and various activities, while the stage play "The Farting Daughter-in-Law" was presented as an interactive performance for the audience.
An exhibition exploring everyday spaces through the eyes of children was also held. Egg Bookshop, which has expanded artistic imagination through picture books, conducted a preliminary workshop titled "Exploring Yeonhui-dong Through Children's Eyes" with BDC Art Studio.
The exhibition introduced maps containing public design elements discovered by children while exploring alleys, along with AI videos reconstructing these findings. The showcase went beyond children making and sharing items to include activities where they observed and expressed their surrounding spaces.
Meanwhile, the Public Design Festival 2026 is a nationwide public design festival hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and managed by KCDF. Under the theme "Public Design Connecting Regions and Daily Life," the festival will run until November 1.
